This programme will train staff dedicated to research and teaching activities, with knowledge and skills to pose and solve problems related to the conservation and use of natural resources.


The study plan of the Master of Science in Conservation and Use of Natural Resources program includes four semesters, is individual, school-based (face-to-face) and flexible for each student, with four terminal options. This plan is covered by an individual study program, designed by the student and his tutorial committee, including the thesis supervisor. The study plan consists of four research seminars, a base subject, compulsory subjects according to the terminal option, optional subjects and the formulation, execution and writing of a research thesis. In total, 86 credits are covered, distributed in four seminars (8 credits), one compulsory subject: Economics of Natural Resources (4 credits), common to all terminal options, two compulsory subjects (8 credits), specific to the terminal option chosen by the student; and three optional subjects (12 credits) and the preparation of a thesis (54 credits).

Admission Requirements

The applicant must have a professional degree in an area of ​​knowledge that has academic affinity with the following terminal options:
  • Patterns and processes of the biodiversity of the neotropics: aimed at graduates of biology, chemical-biologist, ecology, geography, forest engineering, zootechnical veterinarian and related careers.
  • Plant protection and production: aimed at graduates of agricultural engineering, agronomy, biology and related careers.
  • Engineering: aimed at graduates of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, architecture, hydrology, geology and related careers.
  • Administration of natural resources: aimed at graduates of public accounting, industrial engineering, marketing, business relations, economics, administration, natural resource administration, information technology, finance, regional development, tourism, environmental engineering, natural resource engineering and agricultural and related.
