About Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I.Skryabin
The University is named after K.I. Skryabin, a major scientist, academician, Laureate of Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR, who headed the Kyrgyz branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1943-1952. During 90 years of history the university has gone from an agricultural institute to one of the leading universities of the Kyrgyz Republic. The University has trained more than 70 thousand specialists. Among them, those about whom we remember with pride, the world-famous national writer, academician, graduate of the zootechnical faculty Ch. Aitmatov. In addition, among the graduates there are academicians and corresponding members, ministers, deputies.
The University has a Youth Affairs Committee, aimed at supporting youth and student initiatives, activation and development of student self-governance; Cultural and Aesthetic Centre, focused on improving the artistic and creative abilities of students; Start Up Centre, which supports innovative developments for the implementation of youth entrepreneurial business projects of students; Supreme Student Council, the main purpose of which is to organize systematic work on the implementation of the rights of students.
8 clubs are functioning: “ Cultures ”; “ Young Environmentalist – Ecology ”; “ Gamy KNAU Charity ”; “ State Language ”; “ KNAU Education - Science and Knowledge ”; “ Sports ”; “ Insan Develop KNAU ”; “ Enactus KN AU” .
Our students actively participate in all areas of student life and become Scholarship holders of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic; Scholarship holders of Professor G. Balyan Foundation; Winners of International Olympiads; Best Students of Kyrgyz Republic; Winners of start-up projects; Winners of scientific conferences and Olympiads. KNAU students participate in winter/summer schools, charity and citizenship events. KNAU students take prizes in sports competitions
Our scientists and teachers with their discoveries and achievements maintain the prestige of national agricultural science and higher agrarian education in the republic. For high achievements in scientific research and agricultural activities in 1983 the University was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. By the Decree of the President of KR from 18 July 2022 № 243 KNAU named after K.I. Skryabin was given a “Special status”. In 2023 the President of KR Sadyr Zhaparov awarded KNAU with the order "DANK" for its contribution to the development of agrarian education and science.
The seniority of the university faculty is 53%. For implementation of applied science 37 teachers from enterprises are involved.
In 2022 the University successfully passed the International Institutional Accreditation.
Research is carried out in 28 specialized laboratories.
In-vitro laboratory researchers of the university are engaged in the development of new promising varieties of berry crops and their cloning; cultivation of vegetable seeds and their dissemination. Our university transfers innovation in the field of organic agriculture. In order to promote the dissemination of organic agriculture, the University has established "Soil and Crop Analysis Center" and "Smart Greenhouse".
A national innovation center for food and biological security is being established at KNAU.
Young scientists of the University under scholarship programs, students undergo training and internships in biosafety laboratories in leading research, educational centers and universities in Japan, Germany, Ireland, USA, France, Russia and CIS countries. This year, our bachelor's graduates were successfully selecting for the Master's programs at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany). Our students annually undergo summer agricultural practice in advanced farms in Germany.
The scientific journal “Bulletin of KNAU” takes the 2nd place among 116 peer-reviewed scientific journals of RSCI database, impact factor - 0,217.
The University has four dissertation councils for doctoral and candidate scientific degrees.
KNAU is a participant in associations and consortia: the programs are focusing on graduates of agrarian universities and young specialists in the field of agro-industrial complex of Eastern Europe, CIS countries. The University is currently implementing 20 international scientific and educational projects aimed at solving urgent problems to ensure food security of the country.
The University has the status of a leading higher education institution in the system of national agrarian education and is the main organization in the field of scientific research in agriculture. It actively co-operates with 140 higher educational institutions from 21 countries.
The University has a scientific library, student hostel, cultural and aesthetic center.
