In the field of education, the purpose of the Basic educational program of higher professional education in the direction of Horticulture is to prepare bachelors for versatile professional activity in the field of horticulture, nursery, viticulture, agronomy, forestry.
The field of professional activity of graduates in the direction of Horticulture includes: research and development aimed at solving complex problems in the organization and production, storage and primary processing of products of fruit, vegetable, medicinal and essential oil crops, grapes; design, planting and operation of gardening and landscape objects. Graduates may carry out professional activity in other fields and (or) spheres of professional activity provided that their level of education and acquired competencies correspond to the requirements for the qualification of an employee.
The objects of professional activity of graduates in the direction 611000 Horticulture are: fruit trees, fruit and berry shrubs, ornamental, vegetable, medicinal crops, genetic collections of garden plants, breeding process, pests and means of plant protection against them, technologies of production of horticulture products, garden and park landscapes, soil and its fertility, cultivation facilities for the cultivation of horticultural crops.
Bachelor in the direction of training Horticulture should solve the following professional tasks in accordance with the types of professional activities and professional standard:
a) production and technological activity: assessment of suitability of agro - landscapes for cultivation of fruit, medicinal, ornamental crops and grapes; selection of species, breeds and varieties of fruit, vegetable, ornamental, medicinal crops and grapes for different agro-ecological conditions and technologies; implementation of technologies for cultivation of vegetable fruit, medicinal and ornamental crops, grapes; application of fertilizers, plant protection products and gardening equipment.
b) organizational and managerial activity: preparation of technical documentation, work schedules, instructions, estimates, requests for materials, equipment; organization and management of primary production teams in horticulture, vegetable growing, viticulture, medicinal and essential oil plant growing, ornamental horticulture; organization and carrying out of works in horticulture on cultivation of planting and sowing material, planting of perennial plantings, care of them and making managerial decisions in different conditions.
c) research activity: participation in the implementation of scientific research in the field of horticulture; conducting surveys and observations, analyzing the obtained data to assess the status and opportunities to improve the yield of horticultural crops and the quality of products.
Graduates of universities, who have fully mastered the basic educational program of higher professional education in the training of bachelors and successfully passed the state final certification in the prescribed manner, are awarded a diploma of higher education with the academic degree "Bachelor".
The normative term of mastering the basic educational program of higher professional education training of bachelors in the direction of "Horticulture" on the basis of secondary general or secondary vocational education in full-time education is not less than 4 years, which corresponds to at least 240 credits.

Master's programs at the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skryabin (KNAU) offer students the opportunity to gain deeper knowledge and skills in agriculture, engineering, land management, water resources management, agronomy, ecology, agro-processing, economics and other related fields.
The duration of Master's program is 2 years. The educational process includes lectures, practical classes, laboratory work, as well as the completion and defense of a master's thesis. Students can also participate in research and practical projects conducted by university professors and scientists.
For admission to the master's program, the university conducts a competitive selection process based on the results of the final examination and the possession of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent education.
