With its dual focus, the Master of Applied Linguistics and TESOL will provide you with an understanding of the complex relationship between language use and context, as well as a strong theoretical and practical foundation in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). The Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies (Advanced) will prepare you with the knowledge and skills you need for a career in this dynamic field. It’s set apart from the Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies in that it allows you to achieve greater depth in either translation or interpreting, or in both disciplines. Hold a related merit-based Honours (AQF 8), Graduate Diploma (AQF 8) in TESOL OR AQF Level 7 bachelor’s qualification in a related field AND two years full-time (or part-time equivalent) relevant approved work experience in TESOL with a recognised educational institution. Meeting the work experience requirement does not guarantee admission at the 1 year entry point, and the selection committee will need to consider the detailed nature of the applicant's work experience in order to make a determination OR AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in TESOL AND one years full-time (or part-time equivalent) relevant approved work experience in TESOL with a recognised educational institution. Meeting the work experience requirement does not guarantee admission at the 1 year entry point, and the selection committee will need to consider the detailed nature of the applicant's work experience in order to make a determination.
