Analytical biosciences explores the development and application of advanced analytical techniques in the area of biomedical sciences. Analytical chemical data is used in areas including drug metabolism, clinical and toxicological trials, and biomacromolecular characterisation. This major will provide you with broad knowledge of clinically important molecules including drugs (medicines), proteins and genes. It will develop your skills in the analysis and measurement of these molecules and methods for ensuring accuracy. You’ll learn to investigate and solve theoretical and practical problems, including developing hypotheses and experiments, both individually and in teams. You’ll also learn how to perform analytical, biochemical and microbiological procedures for disease diagnosis and accurately record observations. And with the ability to synthesise and analyse published literature; form scientifically defensible arguments; and work in an ethical, safe and effective manner, your career prospects will soar.
