Human geography is concerned with the study of people and the communities in which they live, as well as their interactions with urban, rural and biophysical environments. It brings together arts and social and environmental sciences to study pressing issues of our times such as the human dimensions of climate and environmental change; rising urban and regional inequalities; migration, refugees and geopolitics; and social and environmental issues in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Human geographers make important contributions to creating more just and sustainable communities and places. We are committed to the importance of research-based and field learning for human geographers.  In addition to opportunities to gain local and international experience offered, we offer a field school in second year of the course. You will use your knowledge and skills in human geography to go into careers in public and private sectors, working in areas such as: public policy, housing and community development, education, social and environmental sustainability, land-use management and higher-degree research.
