Anatomy refers to the internal and external structures of the body and their physical relationships. Human anatomy specifically examines the way that each part of a human being, from tissues and cells to internal organs and bones, interact to form a functional whole. Physiology refers to the study of the functions of these structures. The Anatomy and Physiology major examines the structure and function of the human body using a systems-oriented approach. You’ll learn how to apply physiological and anatomical principles to explain how the human body works in states of health and disease. You’ll develop the capabilities required for further study in health, medicine and medical research, such as how to relate human structure to the function of key systems of the body, how to identify common system disorders, and how to evaluate the contribution of behavioural factors to health and the development of disease.
