The study of the long-lived and rich civilisations of Ancient Egypt and the Near East is concerned with cultural and historical legacies, and satisfies many intrinsic interests. It may also provide us with new ways of understanding developments and challenges in the modern world. This specialisation will develop your language proficiency, and research and advanced analytical skills as you work to solve complex historical problems. It includes a full study of Egyptology from the Predynastic to Coptic periods. You’ll evaluate a broad body of historical information and issues relevant to these states and cultures. You’ll learn about the development of society, religion and politics, and gain in-depth knowledge of the geography, art, literature and culture of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Israel and the Near East.
