Study of the long-lived and rich civilisations of the Ancient Mediterranean is concerned with cultural and historical legacies, and satisfies many intrinsic interests. It may also provide us with new ways of understanding developments and challenges in the modern world. This specialisation will develop your skills in understanding scripts, grammar and vocabulary in reading and writing ancient texts. You’ll learn key linguistic skills, which you can apply creatively in new contexts. You’ll specialise in the study of at least two (and up to three) ancient languages – Ancient Greek, Ancient Hebrew, Coptic Egyptian, Hieroglyphic Egyptian or Latin.
