The Bio Resource Research Program in the College of Agricultural Sciences provides research-based, interdisciplinary education, in conjunction with a rigorous biosciences curriculum and opportunities for experiential learning and professional development, in fields related to biological resources, agriculture, and environmental, food and health sciences. Our graduates can contribute successfully to their future career fields or graduate programs, and think critically to help solve the world’s bio resource-related problems. Students can choose any one of the following option: Applied Genetics Applied genetics is directed at changing the genomes of organisms, to increase their utility to humans. Techniques are derived from cyto genetics, molecular biology, and Mendelian and quantitative genetics. Typically, applied geneticists have expertise in one or more related fields of study such as agronomy, biochemistry, botany, entomology, food processing, forestry, microbiology, pathology, physiology, and statistics. The goals of applied genetics include: Improving the quality of food and fiber products, Improving the cost efficiency of a given product, and Minimizing adverse environmental effects of food or fiber production
