Advanced manufacturing is important for the world as it couples manufacturing efforts together to get the most sustainable output. Australia aims to double its circularity by 2035, representing a profound transformation to how we use, reuse and regenerate resources (Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water 2024). Design, optimise and improve modern manufacturing systems with new technologies that are coming into the market every day to engineer a holistic and circular manufacturing approach.

Gain valuable experience in managing projects across a range of industries and learn to manage constraints in time, cost, quality, as well as social, political and environmental challenges.

This course is designed for engineers with a background in mechanical, medical or chemical and sustainable process engineering looking to upskill or be introduced to the field of advanced manufacturing. You’ll graduate with innovative knowledge and skills in advanced manufacturing, specialising in digital and robotic manufacturing or bioprocess engineering.

Digital and robotic manufacturing

Developments in digital and robotic manufacturing are creating new opportunities for achieving circularity in production systems, minimising waste at industrial scales, integrating net positive environmental technologies, and producing high quality, high value, highly customised manufactured products. Employ advanced specialist technical skills, analysis approaches, design, research, and data to find sustainable solutions to digital and robotic manufacturing problems.
Bioprocess engineering

You’ll learn how to lead projects using sustainable materials and processes such as biofuels and animal-free food production. Imagine and realise change using entrepreneur strategies, advanced design, collaborative decision-making, and innovation in ethical and sustainable ways. Graduates of the bioprocess engineering major will have the skills necessary to work in a range of industries such as energy, biomedical device, food, beverage, chemical, agriculture and pharmaceutical.
