  • No GRE scores are required.
  • A bachelor's degree in physics from a regionally accredited college or university is strongly preferred.* Applicants with a bachelor's degree in a related field such as chemistry, mathematics, or engineering may also be considered, provided they have completed:
    At least two calculus-based introductory physics courses; and
    At least two upper-level physics courses.
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) is required for full admission to the program, and 2.75 is required for conditional admission. GPA calculations may be based upon the cumulative units or the last 60 units of the degree. See graduate admission policies for more information.

*Applicants who do not have a degree in physics and/or lack sufficient preparation in physics and mathematics may be required to complete remedial undergraduate courses and/or additional 500-level electives from the curriculum.
