  • no GRE scores required
  • a baccalaureate degree in a related area — biology, chemistry, geology or environmental science from a regionally accredited college or university
  • minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) required for full admission to the program, 2.75 required for conditional admission; GPA calculations may be based upon the cumulative units or the last 60 units of the degree (see graduate admission policies for more information)  
  • students without undergraduate degree in related area are required to complete the following courses, in consultation with the graduate program director, with a minimum GPA of 2.75:
    two terms of introductory biology with laboratory
    two terms of introductory chemistry with laboratory
    one term of statistics OR one term of calculus
  • Thesis track: Most thesis track students are supported with assistantships from the program and/or external grants. However, the number of assistantships is limited. To receive assistantship support, thesis track applicants must have contacted and received support from a science-focused faculty member who is interested in serving as a thesis advisor.
