The Master's Program in Design at the University of the Andes is a space for encountering diverse knowledge, welcoming professionals from any discipline and individuals from all design specialties. The starting point is recognizing each person's unique strengths and knowledge based on their life experience and academic and professional background, enabling them to address complex challenges, contexts, industries, and societies through a design lens.

We understand Design Thinking as a practice that recognizes the role of the senses and sensitivity in understanding the world, integrating methods and resources from the creative process to articulate thought, emotion, and transformative action in diverse social contexts. Throughout the master's program and through problem-based learning, a body of work is generated with the objective of recognizing and enhancing career paths through design focused on social impact and transformation.

From this perspective, the personal journey through the master's program unfolds through: creation, understood as design's poetic capacity to conceive new paths of symbolic and material transformation; social integrity, as an ethical principle guiding coherence, respect, and responsibility in dealing with the people, communities, organizations, and ecosystems involved in both the processes and outcomes of projects; critical thinking, as a reflective and emancipatory practice that questions the cultural, ethical, and political frameworks of design. This involves recognizing power relations and ideological assumptions, adopting an ethical and collaborative stance, justifying decisions, and imagining just and sustainable alternatives oriented toward transformation and collective responsibility; and sensory experience, as a form of embodied knowledge that articulates perception, emotion, and thought in design processes. It allows for connecting with the material, affective, and contextual stimuli that emerge in each project, enhancing responsiveness, empathy, and imagination in the face of diverse work and life scenarios.
