Our students can build a specialized profile. This comes from in-depth study in fields of knowledge related to the technological, creative, and social spheres.
This diverse training enables them to contribute constructively to multidisciplinary teams. It also provides them with a conceptual framework for envisioning, structuring, and executing projects in various fields of architecture. These projects are clearly committed to addressing the needs of the country.
Architects from the University of the Andes receive a comprehensive Uniandes education*. They can pursue double majors and academic options in other fields of study. Furthermore, they can begin master's studies in some of the graduate programs offered by the Department.
*Uniandes General Education: General Education at the University of the Andes (Uniandes) is a component of all programs designed to cultivate students' critical, ethical, and humanistic spirit, complementing their professional training. Through the Uniandes Basic Cycle (CBU), reading and writing courses, and Constitution and Democracy courses, it seeks to develop engaged citizens capable of understanding diverse perspectives.
Our graduates are architects qualified to practice in the fields defined by Colombian legislation.
The undergraduate Architecture program at the University of the Andes is characterized by:
- Personalized training, with small groups and high interaction between professors and students. We believe that contact between professors and students is key to learning, which is why we aim for a student-to-professor ratio of 10:1 or 12:1 in introductory architecture courses, units, and integrative projects.
- Being one of the few at the national level that is structured around units, or pairs of courses, that share themes. These are part of the understanding and development cycles.
- Enable the option for students to begin their postgraduate studies while still enrolled in undergraduate programs. To achieve this, we have created a scenario in which students can take master's degree courses offered by the Faculty starting in their seventh semester.
- We offer each student the opportunity to develop a specialized profile in a specific field of knowledge: technological, creative, or social. We achieve this through a broad and diverse range of thematic units ( development cycle ) that allow students to take courses offered in other university programs that align with their individual interests.
- Incorporate the development of skills to learn how to communicate the project, ideas, and concepts. The program offers a diverse range of Instrument courses that appear at key moments in the student's training. These are complemented by a Digital Fabrication course .
- It is a flexible curriculum, structured around eight- and sixteen-week courses that allow the student to develop the study plan in a freer way and in accordance with their interests.
- Develop computational thinking skills and technological proficiency. These skills offer a way to understand reality by breaking down complex problems into simple, sequential, and iterative operations. The program integrates this approach with work using digital tools and artificial intelligence, understood as support for creative and technical work. This learning is structured through different types of courses within the program, which reinforce and consolidate these skills throughout the curriculum.
