Civil Engineering develops managerial skills to manage superstructure, infrastructure, and hydraulic works projects, as well as to develop Territorial Organization Plans (POT).  It trains civil engineers to design solutions to meet the needs of the scientific, technological, social, and economic development of Guatemala and the Central American region. It prepares civil engineers capable of analyzing, designing, and checking superstructure, infrastructure, and hydraulic works projects, as well as their facilities. Promotes and implements technological innovation in solutions to advanced problems for the development of structural engineering, hydraulic engineering, and surveying. It encourages the use of computer tools to simulate and represent real systems and promotes quality control in materials and civil engineering services. It forms agents of change, considering the correct dimension of social, cultural, technological, environmental, and sustainability aspects. Creates knowledge and/or provides solutions to real problems through research in construction engineering with a scientific-technological base, and encourages postgraduate studies. Develop managerial skills to manage companies in the construction area, as well as in project management.
