The Food Technology Study Program was established in 2023 under the Faculty of Technology and Vocational Education (Rector's Decree No. 1548/UN40//HK.02/2023 dated August 18, 2023). Currently, the Food Technology Study Program is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) (Decree No. 81/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.P/S/I/2025). The vacancy map for Food Technology graduates is at KKNI level 6. Graduates of the UPI Food Technology Undergraduate Program can pursue careers in four professions related to the food industry: as practitioners in the food industry, food industry entrepreneurs, food technology research assistants, and food industry consultants. Graduates of the Food Technology Study Program can also pursue higher-level studies.
The establishment of the Food Technology Study Program aligns with the spirit of UPI's FPTI to continuously innovate and develop study programs relevant to current needs. FPTI itself has a long history in technology and vocational education, beginning with the establishment of the B1 Engineering course in 1958. Over time, FPTI has undergone various transformations and program developments to address the challenges of education and industry in Indonesia.
Thus, the UPI Food Technology Study Program demonstrates the university's commitment to providing quality higher education relevant to the needs of society and industry, particularly in the field of food technology, which is increasingly important in supporting national food security.
