To become a study program that has academic excellence in knowledge of local culture and hybrid culture of the Sumatran people who are able to compete at the 2021 global level.

MISSION

  • Develop education to produce scholars who understand and can use classical and contemporary anthropological theories, concepts and methods to analyze traditional/national and contemporary socio-cultural phenomena.
  • Producing excellent scholars, having critical insight and the ability to understand classical and contemporary anthropological theories, concepts, and methods.
  • To produce scholars who are able to use theories, concepts and anthropological methods that can be applied in studying the socio-cultural phenomena of ethnicity in Sumatra and Southeast Asia in the process of globalization.
  • To produce scholars who have professional spirit and universal human values ​​in analyzing power relations between socio-cultural groups in society.
  • To produce graduates who have the ability to develop their creativity and expertise in mentoring and empowering civil society as well as commodifying culture.
  • Carry out research with an anthropological approach on traditional/national, trans-national and contemporary societies and cultures in Sumatra and Southeast Asia for academic and practical purposes.
  • Produce research with an anthropological approach that is sensitive to issues of ethnicity, religion, aesthetics, local wisdom, ecology, organizational culture, tourism, gender (women and children), health, education, economics, law and politics.
  • Produce written and documentary research that uses multi-media technology regarding the life of traditional and contemporary ethnic groups in Sumatra and Southeast Asia.
  • Produce ethnographic research on ethnic communities in the context of globalization in various fields of contemporary society.
  • Produce research papers and theoretical conceptual thoughts in reputable national and international journals.
  • Carry out community service with an anthropological approach for the formation and strengthening of civil society in Indonesia.
  • Produce scholars who have sensitivity and willingness to solve problems related to issues of poverty, environmental damage, social conflicts, minorities and marginalized communities.
  • To produce graduates who are willing and willing to be involved in organizing actions, providing assistance for civil society empowerment.
  • Cooperating with the community and related institutions and institutions to maintain, preserve and develop wise traditional cultural heritage, both in the ideational fields, activities and artifacts in the Sumatra and Southeast Asia region.
