The Applied Marine Ecology Undergraduate programme provides essential knowledge in the natural sciences, particularly in the field of marine environmental protection. It offers education focused on sustainable development, ecosystem conservation, and the application of acquired knowledge in various activities involving the management and utilization of natural resources.
From the very beginning of their studies, students are involved in scientific research activities and, together with faculty members, participate in projects and scientific conferences, as well as publish research results in national and international journals.
Upon completion of the programme, students will understand the structure and function of living organisms, be able to compare different taxonomic groups, and explain fundamental ecological concepts.
The University of Dubrovnik is equipped with chemical, biological, and biotechnical laboratories, experimental research hatcheries for fish and shellfish, aquaculture facilities, vessels, and appropriate premises for practical training. The University also owns the training and research vessel “Naše more” (Our Sea), which is used for fieldwork and for familiarizing students with marine research methods.
The University Undergraduate Programme in Applied Marine Ecology lasts three years, comprising six semesters (180 ECTS credits).
Upon completion of the university undergraduate programme, students may continue their studies in the graduate programme in Mariculture.
