The undergraduate university study programme in History of the Adriatic and of the Mediterranean is the first study in humanities at the University of Dubrovnik, offering a very innovative programme. A special feature of this programme is the topic itself. Namely, although comprising courses from the antiquity to the modern history, lectures primarily cover the history of the Adriatic and of the Mediterranean during the Middle Ages and the modern period (6 th -19 th   century). Another interesting feature of this programme is its focus on practical skills (i.e. auxiliary sciences of history, cultural management, etc.), whereby students acquire skills that enable them to also find work beyond the scientific or the teaching sector, e.g., in tourism, cultural industry or the media. This programme is also special because of its interdisciplinarity. Students are educated not only in history but in other sciences as well, ranging from demography and economics to art history and literature. Professors from the University of Dubrovnik, University of Zagreb and other education institutions teach classes at this programme. This programme is carried out in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb.
