Together, these will give you a well-rounded experience, bridging the ancient and medieval European and Mediterranean worlds, and offering you a rich global perspective.
The School of History, Classics and Archaeology is home to one of the world’s largest clusters of academics teaching and researching the ancient and medieval worlds and comes with particular expertise in late antiquity, Byzantium and the early medieval west. This means that the two parts of the degree programme are particularly well integrated, in fact forming a seamless whole. Moreover, expertise in medieval Islamic history is available in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures.

- courses in ancient Greek and Roman history – as well as in late antique and Byzantine history, if you like – in the Classics department
- courses in medieval history – from Britain and Ireland, potentially all the way to the medieval Indian Ocean and Mongol worlds, depending on your interests – in the History department
