Pharmacology is the study of how drugs interact with the body, whether to treat disorders or alter body functions.
Combining physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, you will explore how medicines work and how new treatments are developed in order to improve patient care.
In this degree programme, you will explore:
- how drugs have effects on molecules, cells and tissues
- potential side effects and how they can be explained
- how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolised and eliminated
Taught by leading researchers, this degree programme equips you with the knowledge and practical skills to contribute to cutting-edge drug research, healthcare innovation and patient care. Pharmacology opens doors to careers in biomedical research, the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare and beyond.
Our Pharmacology degree is part of our suite of Biomedical Sciences degrees. In all programmes, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of biomedical sciences in Years 1 and 2 and then choose from a suite of more specialist courses in Year 3.
The flexibility of our programmes means that you can also change your specialism at the end of Year 3. Specialisms you can choose from include:
- anatomy and development
- biomedical sciences
- reproductive biology
- neuroscience
- infectious diseases
Programme benefits
- Join an interdisciplinary programme that equips you with the knowledge, skills and development essential for globally competitive graduates in our key disciplines.
- Benefit from the opportunity to undertake projects with our leading biomedical researchers, addressing major global biomedical challenges.
