Reproductive biology explores the science behind how humans and other mammals reproduce. You will learn how life begins and develops, from the production of healthy gametes and fertilisation, to implantation, placenta formation and full-term delivery.

This degree programme combines biology, physiology and molecular science to help you understand the processes that make reproduction possible. You will also discover how advances in reproductive biology have transformed assisted conception, reproductive medicine and veterinary practice.

Studying reproductive biology gives you knowledge that opens doors to careers in medical research, healthcare, fertility science and animal biology, putting you at the forefront of an exciting area of modern biology.

Our Reproductive Biology degree is part of our suite of Biomedical Sciences degrees. In all programmes, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of biomedical sciences in Years 1 and 2 and then choose from a suite of more specialist courses in Year 3.

The flexibility of our programmes means that you can also change your specialism at the end of Year 3. Specialisms you can choose from include:

  • anatomy and development
  • biomedical sciences
  • pharmacology
  • neuroscience
  • infectious diseases

Programme benefits

  • Join an interdisciplinary programme that equips you with the knowledge, skills and development essential for globally competitive graduates in our key disciplines.
  • Benefit from the opportunity to undertake projects with our leading biomedical researchers, addressing major global biomedical challenges.
  • In Year 3, enjoy the option to study abroad at one of our partner universities.
