Investigate specialized areas like animal nutrition, reproductive physiology, meats, animal breeding and more in pursuit of a master’s degree in animal science. Conduct independent research on a topic that interests you for your thesis, and prepare for your career in advancing the quality of animal care, breeding, meat and dairy production, and other areas of animal agriculture. The M.S. degree may be earned in animal science. To qualify for full admission, candidates must fulfill the requirements of the Graduate College and have an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or better (4.0 scale) for their undergraduate study. Acceptance of students not having this minimum grade-point average is possible, subject to recommendation by the department's Graduate Committee. Applicants must submit scores received on the Graduate Record Examination general (aptitude) test. The M.S. degree requires a minimum of 30 credits, at least 18 of which must be in courses numbered 500 and above. No more than 10 of the 500-level credits may be from research and thesis. Courses at the 300 level in supporting fields may be used as part of the M.S. degree program. All graduate students are required to complete the departmental graduate seminar twice during the degree program. Students are also required to assist with teaching during their graduate training. Other English Language Requirements accepted: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) minimum score of 525 on the paper test; Completion of the University of Idaho American Language and Culture Program (ALCP); SAT critical reading minimum score of 500; Completion from Lewis-Clark State College Institute of Intensive English Bridge Program; Pearson (PTE) Academic score of 48; ELS Language Centers, pass of Level 112; Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English), pass; Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), pass; Cambridge International "O" Levels, pass; MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) score of 74.
