A recipe for food innovation. How foods are made, kept safe, the way they are packaged, even the way they taste, feel or look, are all results of food science. In this program, you will study biology, chemistry, nutrition, engineering and other sciences. You will learn to apply this knowledge in the laboratory to research and develop new or improved food and beverage products with novel flavors, textures and colors. Much of your education will take place in the on-campus labs, where you could examine food-spoiling bacteria, analyze food borne pathogens, collect taste-sensory data, or learn how to process and package meat, dairy and cereal products. Applicants must have a 2.5 on a 4.0 GPA scale is required from secondary school. Students must meet criteria for admission to university level study in home country. Other English Language Requirements accepted: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) minimum score of 525 on the paper test; Completion of the University of Idaho American Language and Culture Program (ALCP); SAT critical reading minimum score of 500; Completion from Lewis-Clark State College Institute of Intensive English Bridge Program; Pearson (PTE) Academic score of 48; ELS Language Centers, pass of Level 112; Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English), pass; Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), pass; Cambridge International "O" Levels, pass; MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) score of 74.
