This programme has been designed to meet the needs of the NHS and develop biomedical scientists who play a vital role in modern healthcare. UWS works in partnership with NHS laboratories and the Health and Care Professions Council to equip students with the theory and practical skills necessary to become a biomedical scientist. Hospital laboratories play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, with biomedical scientists carrying out tests on clinical specimens, with timely and effective analysis of results informing the effective diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and prevention of disease by medical staff. This course will ensure that students gain the knowledge, skills and experience to play a leading role in the modern healthcare sector. The BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (the leading professional body for biomedical scientists, support staff and students). The BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science is also approved by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
