The MS program is research intensive and should be pursued only by students who have a serious commitment to the science of exercise physiology and strong backgrounds in exercise physiology as well as the basic sciences (chemistry and biology). This degree is designed to prepare students for doctoral degree programs in exercise physiology and related disciplines. The MS degree requires: 1) Approximately 2 years to complete. 2) A minimum of 33 hours of graduate work. 3) Three required courses in the HPL (9 total hrs). 4) A thesis covering a research problem that will contribute new knowledge to the field (6 hrs required), including an oral defense of the thesis.
