The dietetic internship at Ball State University is a 32-week, full-time program that begins in January and May of each year. Students accepted into the internship program at Ball State University will have the opportunity to complete the requirements of the dietetic internship and at least 18 hours toward the completion of a master’s degree. The dietetic internship is currently granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Ball State’s nutrition and dietetics graduate program is designed to ready you for a successful career in clinical medical care, preventive care, and other related fields. Participants in the program have the opportunity to complete an ACEND-approved internship, which is required for eligibility to take the national examination to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). This highly selective program offers flexible study options including on-campus, off-campus, and online courses making it among the most competitive and convenient programs in the region. Furthermore, Ball State is the only university in Indiana that provides 9 graduate credits 25 percent of the graduate degree for completing the required internship. Career Opportunities The demand for dietitians is projected to exceed supply for the next 10 years due to the increased role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of illness. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of dietitians and nutritionists will grow 21 percent between 2012 and 2022 faster than all other jobs. That means graduates from our program enjoy a wealth of career opportunities.
