English is the most spoken language in the world. In this connection, study of English literature and language is nothing new in Bangladesh, in fact, it has a long colonial heritage. Study of English Literature at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology Univeristy, Dinajpur is a milestone for the students living in the northern part of Bangladesh. This department is committed to provide quality education and necessary skills required for the job market. The post graduate program in English is a research-oriented program where students take a thesis project in the their last semester of study and contribute extensively in the existing paradigm of knowledge. This program provides the opportunity to under independent research during undergraduate studies while individual supervisors take care of students. This program has recently started its PhD program which will allow senior level student to contribute to the research.
The Department has accommodated high profile faculty members with diverse research areas including Shakespeare studies, American Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Cultural Studies, Linguistics and English Language Teaching. The objective of this department is to prepare graduate for the professional market and helping them in being independent thinkers.
