The department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was established in 2009 with a view to providing fundamental and advanced courses on properties, structure, functions, and metabolism of bio-molecules to several undergraduate degree programs e.g., Agriculture, Fisheries, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and Food Process Engineering etc. The department consists of 8 faculty members two of them are Professors, three Associate Professors, one Assistant Professor and two Lecturers. Faculty research areas include plant stress physiology, microbiology and molecular genetics, plant-microbe interaction, plant cell signalling, and use of plant derived bio-active compound in food formulation.
