Department of Soil Science at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology
University (HSTU), Dinajpur, Bangladesh, was founded in 1999 under the
Agriculture Faculty. The Department contributes to a four-year Bachelor of
Science in Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag.), a two-year Master of Science (M.S.), and a
three-and-a-half-year Ph.D. program in Soil Science. The Department aims to
develop skilled agriculture graduates with practical soil knowledge on the uses
and management of land resources. The Department provides field and lab
facilities for research and practical classes. The core topics of teaching and
research are the sustainability and productivity of soils, the improvement of
crop production, and the conservation of soil, water, and food quality as
impacted by agriculture and other human activities. This Department prioritizes
soil health issues for farmers and other stakeholders in the country. The Department
