The department of dairy and
Poultry Science has started its journey since 2001, branching into two major disciplines;
Dairy science and Poultry science with the objectives of teaching, research and
extension services. Both of the subjects focus on management, nutrition,
genetics and breeding of different types of dairy and poultry genetics
resources; and production of various dairy and poultry products in
undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Invention of need based cutting edge
research and technologies to increase dairy and poultry production, as well as
to ensure products safeties are also inevitable responsibility of the
department. This department is also covering the extension activities through
providing technical service, training and consultation facilities to the stake
holders and farmers.

Is there any farm facilities under the department of dairy and poultry science?
Yes. We have 20 cows dairy herd and a poultry shed to provide practical knowledge to the students.
Whether pasteurised milk is safe to consume without heat treatment?
No. It is advisable to consume the pasteurised milk after boiling.
Which test are performed to determine the milk quality?
There are so many tests to examine the milk quality. In undergraduate level generally dry matter, ash, fat, acidity percentage determination and latecomer reading are practices to check the milk quality.
What is most important hazard in poultry industry now?
Disposal of poultry industry waste is the frontline hazard in Bangladesh, as there is no proper disposal policy. Lack of knowledge regarding to waste management is also another cause.
Why the farmers don’t get actual profit in poultry industry?
Increasing feed cost, middle-man-based marketing policy are the major cause for depriving actual profit in this industry.
