In this course students will explore a wide range of literary, theoretical, dramatic, and other texts, from the Renaissance to the present day, and develop their capacity for reflection and analysis. Students will learn to write in a range of literary and related genres and learn to think critically and creatively, apply knowledge and information, and communicate effectively. The core units will include ‘Writing and Creativity’ and ‘Turning Points in Literature’, and students can choose electives and areas of interest, such as ‘Shakespeare’ and ‘Sonnet to Song: Understanding Poetry’. Other popular units include ‘Telling True Stories’ and ‘Popular Literature and Science Fiction’. Students may also combines this degree with another major such as History, Philosophy, Theatre and Drama, Law, Business and Society, Screen Production or Web Communication.
