In this course, previously called Cyber Forensics and Information Security, students will learn how to identify, mitigate and prevent cyber security threats and respond to security incidents for government agencies and corporate organisations. Students will also develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills and learn how to forensically examine digital evidence to solve computer crimes. The course offers a solid foundation of the theoretical and practical aspects of the different dimensions of cyber security, such as network security, software security, system security measures and models, information security, computer forensics, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment, risk and project management and knowledge of relevant standards and regulatory requirements. As part of the studies, students will gain practical experience through research and professional projects and optional industry work placements. This course is accredited at the Professional level with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
