The Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at National Central University is the first institute in Taiwan dedicated to studying the relationship between brain mechanisms and human behavior. Established in September 2003, it has since established the Visual Cognition Laboratory, the Brain and Behavior Laboratory, the Human Memory Laboratory, the Concept and Language Laboratory, the Action and Cognition Laboratory, the Auditory Cognition Laboratory, the Computational and Applied Neuroscience Laboratory, the Brain and Language Laboratory, and the Eye Movement and Cognition Laboratory.
Currently, our institute has close collaborative relationships with the Cognitive Neuropsychology Laboratory and Institute of Neuroscience at National Yang-Ming University, National Chiao Tung University (part of the Taiwan University System), the Integrative Brain Function Research Laboratory (IBRU, Taipei-VGH) at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, the Institute of Linguistics at Academia Sinica, and the Brain Science Center at National Chiao Tung University. We utilize various brain imaging techniques and behavioral measurement methods to study the brain's processing mechanisms for different cognitive functions. Examples include: dyslexia, Chinese word processing, working memory and reading process, visual cognition and visual search, emotion and criminal behavior, and human motor control and cognitive abilities. We explore the brain processing mechanisms of various cognitive functions in subjects of different ages (including schoolchildren and the elderly). Simultaneously, we actively develop transnational and interdisciplinary collaborative research to expand the precision and breadth of our research.
