Our Department of Mechanical Engineering curriculum is designed to be engaging and innovative. It allows students to have multi-disciplinary training in mechanical engineering. The undergraduate and graduate programs currently offer a broad range of courses in the following areas:

  1. Solid Mechanics and Design
  2. Advanced Materials and Precision Manufacturing
  3. Fluid and Thermal Science
  4. Automation and System Engineering
  5. Opto-Mechatronics
  6. Energy Engineering


In response to the increasing challenges from global environment and energy issues, new courses are conscientiously prepared to keep our programs up-to-date and relevant. Delivered by professional faculty, both the undergraduate programs and the graduate programs provide our students with the professional expertise, teamwork capability and effective leadership, which in all, make our graduates exceedingly competitive in their career development. In fact, our graduates are employed by many of the top corporations, governmental agencies, research institutes and universities in the nation.

Our department has the most active research programs, which range across the wide spectrum of Mechanical Engineering. Equipped with state-of-art facilities, we manage to afford extensive collaborations with governmental agencies, research institutes and industry. Our department also receives funds more than 2.3 million US dollars per year from both government and industry. The funding can functionally support most of our graduate students for their study.
