The Department of Political Science offers an innovative curriculum, an outstanding faculty, ample research facilities, and opportunities for intellectual exchange through seminars and workshops. The Department has earned international recognition for its high standards in teaching, research and publications. We are inviting applications from qualified candidates who are interested to earn graduate degrees (Master of Social Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy) in the sub-fields of: Comparative Politics; International Relations; Political Theory; AND Governance and Public Policy. Successful candidates will take courses and conduct research for the thesis in a chosen field of study under the guidance of their supervisor(s). The Department has a strong research focus on Asia with emphasis on East and Southeast Asia. Resources and facilities for graduate studies include research scholarships, access to internal and external libraries, subsidized accommodation, study rooms and computer facilities.

Either a good Master's degree in Political Science and the ability to pursue research in the candidate's proposed field of advanced study OR an NUS Honours degree (at least Second Class Upper Division) or equivalent in a relevant discipline, subject to approval by the Faculty, on a case-by-case basis and the ability to pursue research in the candidate's proposed field of advanced study.
