The Department of Economics offers a Master of Economics coursework programme with two tracks, the Applied Economics track and the Quantitative Economics track.
Applied Economics track. The career-oriented Applied Economics track is for individuals who wish to become professional economists or economic consultants in business, non-profit, or government organizations. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to apply their economic expertise to a wide range of challenging situations facing firms, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Quantitative Economics track. The academic-focused Quantitative Economics track is for students who wish to acquire a deeper knowledge of advanced economic theory and analytical and quantitative methods. It prepares students for doctoral studies in economics and careers that require more rigorous training in advanced economic theory and quantitative skills. Click here for curriculum information.
Applicants should declare their preferred track at the time of application and indicate whether they are willing to be considered for the other track.
Students on the Quantitative Economics track may apply to transfer to the Applied Economics track by the end of the first semester through submitting a request form via email to the Department. Such transfers are subject to the Department's approval, and no reversion of tracks will be permitted.
Students on the Applied Economics track will not be permitted to transfer to the Quantitative Economics track.
