Biotechnology (BT) is one of the sectors that should lead the economic growth and well-being of nations in the future. This conclusion is accepted in all countries, and in Ecuador it is also imperative since BIODIVERSITY and BIOTECHNOLOGY are associated. Biotechnology is in a general sense any technological application that uses biological systems and living organisms and / or their derivatives, for the creation or modification of products or processes, in other words, it is the use of organisms through engineering processes for the benefit of humans. , or the environment. BT draws on knowledge of Biology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Engineering, etc. Its application is key for the development of animal and plant agriculture, human medicine, food, pharmaceutical and environmental sanitation industries. The team that make up the UNEMI Biotechnology Engineering career has set ourselves the mission of training professionals convinced of the need to practice human values, with tools to express an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of generating biotechnological innovations based on scientific research and to lead research and production processes to satisfy the needs of society, the responsible use of biodiversity and environmentally sustainable management.
