This joint degree provides an in-depth knowledge of German language and culture while developing students’ ability as an analyst of international economic phenomena. Students will spend half of the time in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures and the other half in the Department of Economics. The German component will extend their understanding of the language, literature, culture, society and politics of Germany and the German-speaking world, whilst in Economics students will study the choices of consumers and corporations, groups and governments, networks and nations, developing a deep knowledge of global and local economic trends, institutions and policies. Students will spend their second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing their learning.
