Molecular Biosciences is a dynamic continuum of disciplines, which uses the approaches of chemistry, physics, and biology to understand the fundamental mechanisms of living organisms. The School of Molecular Biosciences offers many exciting opportunities for graduate students to explore the vast range of life science research while working toward degrees in the sub-disciplines of biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, genetics, and microbiology. The School of Molecular Biosciences (SMB) offers outstanding opportunities for graduate students to pursue research projects in the life sciences using state of the art equipment in a modern research building. SMB faculty are at the forefront of their fields and are conducting research in a diverse and exciting range of topics including reproductive and developmental biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and cell biology. The graduate program also is a participant in the College of Veterinary Medicine’s umbrella Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences (iPBS). All students who enter the Molecular Biosciences PhD program take the SMB graduate curriculum and participate in the interdisciplinary training offered by iPBS. This program also offers a professional development track throughout the duration of your training.

Admission Requirements

Prospective international students must have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an approved institution. Usually this is a minimum of four years of study beyond grade 12. A grade point average equivalent to a U.S. grade of “B” or better is required. Other English Language Requirements: 550 paper-based (PBT) TOEFL, 213 computer-based (CBT) TOEFL, MELAB score of 77.
