Civil engineers create and manage bridges, highways, buildings, airports, dams and waterways, water purification plants and distribution systems, foundations and tunnels, waste treatment and disposal facilities, and conventional and renewable energy supply systems. In addition to on its Pullman campus, WSU offers a civil engineering degree at WSU Tri-Cities. Specialization tracks available: Civil/Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Resource Engineering. Perhaps more than any other field of engineering, a civil engineering degree offers the greatest variety of employment opportunity. Washington State University civil engineering graduates are in high demand by employers throughout the Northwest and the nation. Applicants must have completed at least 12 years of school, culminating in an appropriate secondary certificate or external examination. (We may consider the first year or two of university in some countries to be secondary level.) Schooling should include preparation in humanities, mathematics, basic sciences, and social sciences. WSU requires a minimum grade point average of 2.70 (on a 4.00 scale). Preference is given to students whose grades are significantly above average. Other English Language Requirements: 550 paper-based (PBT) TOEFL, 213 computer-based (CBT) TOEFL, MELAB score of 77.
