The Master of Science in Agriculture (MSAG) is an interdisciplinary degree program offered by the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) through the cooperation of a variety of academic units in CAHNRS as well as WSU’s Research and Extension Centers. The program’s outstanding faculty experts in animal science, economic sciences, food science, crop and soil Sciences, horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, and more. Students have the opportunity to direct their learning experience and tailor their coursework to help them meet their professional goals. The program is available completely online and gives students the opportunity to further their education while they continue employment anywhere in the world. The mission of the Master of Science in Agriculture degree program is to enhance the career trajectory of agricultural professionals, practitioners, and educators by improving their ability to apply new and emerging scientific findings and technologies to the advancement and expansion of their disciplines through: Successful completion of high quality courses designed to support expertise expansion in targeted areas or disciplines; Participation in an immersion-based, high quality research experience; Opportunities to disseminate knowledge through participation in and/or development of extension programs or media. The MS in Agriculture degree program offers a versatile general agriculture degree track which allows the student to customize a program to suit their interests, and we have also established focused options in Food Science & Management and Plant Health Management. The Master of Science in Agriculture (MSAG) program is ideal for agricultural professionals, practitioners, and educators. The degree is completely online, so students can achieve their goals without disrupting their lives. The program’s General track is versatile so that students may tailor their coursework according to their professional goals. Washington State University’s Master of Science in Agriculture: Food Science and Management degree and option brings together two disciplines: food science and organizational management. The combination means that you will be uniquely qualified to meet the increasing demand for managers who understand both research and economics. Washington State University’s Master of Science in Agriculture: Plant Health Management degree and option combines WSU’s world-renowned plant science graduate programs with business courses in organizational management. This combination means graduates will be qualified to manage commercial?scale agricultural or horticultural operations (farms, greenhouses, landscapes, parks, etc.), and will be able to diagnose and address problems associated with plant pathogens, insects and weeds, as well as environmental factors (including soil) that impact plant health. Knowledge acquired through this experience will likely be used by successful candidates to improve performance or expand opportunities for advancement in a current employment situation, or to support a student with redirecting their career opportunities towards a new discipline. In general, the thesis option requires both the successful completion of coursework, and the preparation and oral defense of the thesis based on a research project the student conducted. The thesis option is ideal for people who are interested in pursuing or expanding a professional career involving the scientific aspects of an agricultural discipline. This degree also is suitable for individuals who intend to continue their graduate education.
