The WSU Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares students to care for patients in a variety of clinical settings ranging from acute care (hospitals) to urban and rural health clinics, home health, nursing homes, hospice, schools and more. The pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program prepares you for a lifelong career in nursing practice. With the largest program in the state, WSU has a history of graduating competent, compassionate nurses ready to practice in all healthcare settings. With access to innovative practice labs and technology, interprofessional simulations, world-class researchers and faculty, WSU provides you with the solid foundation to begin your career. The BSN program prepares you with a blend of course work, skills practice, simulation, and clinical experience. You will learn foundational skills and theories in class. Critical thinking and nursing skills are developed in the practice lab working with preceptors in a safe, controlled environment. Simulation – either using high fidelity manikins or staged with real people - allows you to apply the skills and nursing theories while working on communication, teamwork, and making sound clinical decisions. In addition to countless hours in the practice and simulation lab, you will log more than 950 hours in clinical settings outside the college preparing you for successful nursing practice. BSN graduates have many opportunities to serve and work as a Registered Nurse in a variety of health care settings. Here are a few: Cardiology Nurse, Chemical Dependence Rehabilitation Nurse, Child Psychiatry Nurse, Emergency Room Nurse, Flight Trauma Nurse, Forensic Nurse, Geriatric Nurse, Home Care Nurse, Infection Control Nurse, Long-Term Care Nurse, Military Nurse, Neonatal Nurse, Nursing Instructor, Obstetric Nurse, Occupational Health Nurse, Operating Room Nurse, Palliative Care/Hospice Nurse, Pediatric Nurse, Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse, Psychiatric Nurse, Rehabilitation Nurse, School Nurse, Traveling Nurse, Veteran's Affairs Nurse.
