Our mission in the Dance Program of Western Kentucky University is to provide an environment conducive to comprehensive training in performance within the framework of a liberal arts education at the Bachelor of Arts level. By integrating dance and general studies, we strive to create “Thinking Artists”, individuals who work to achieve their highest potential as artists/technicians and scholars. Students intending to major in dance are required to attend a placement audition before their initial semester in the program. After receiving a written assessment of their technical dance skills from the dance faculty, those students choosing to pursue the degree will be classified as “seeking admission” (Major #630P). Students may then formally apply for full admittance to the AB in Dance (#630) after the completion of two semesters (transfer students must complete at least 15 hours at WKU) in the program.
