Our mission in the Dance Program of Western Kentucky University is to provide an environment conducive to comprehensive training in performance within the framework of a liberal arts education at the Bachelor of Arts level. By integrating dance and general studies, we strive to create “Thinking Artistsâ€, individuals who work to achieve their highest potential as artists/technicians and scholars. Students intending to major in dance are required to attend a placement audition before their initial semester in the program. After receiving a written assessment of their technical dance skills from the dance faculty, those students choosing to pursue the degree will be classified as “seeking admission†(Major #630P). Students may then formally apply for full admittance to the AB in Dance (#630) after the completion of two semesters (transfer students must complete at least 15 hours at WKU) in the program.
