An accounting major can lead to a successful career in many different areas of accounting and business. From the smallest start-up company to large international companies and governmental agencies, every organization requires the skills of accountants. Students pursuing a major in Accounting should be aware of the following requirements for admission to the Accounting Program: Courses completed prior to entering Western will be accepted for transfer credit as part of the accounting program only if the grade of "C" or better was earned with the exception ACCT 200 and ACCT 201. A grade of "B" or higher in both ACCT 200 and ACCT 201 is required. Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and must have completed ACCT 200 and ACCT 201 with a grade of "B" or higher in both ACCT 200 and ACCT 201. Except for ACCT 300 and ACCT 310, students must be admitted to the Accounting Program to enroll in upper level accounting courses. Accounting majors must earn a grade of "C" or better in ACCT 300, 301, 310, and 312 and other courses that are prerequisites for succeeding courses.
