The Department of Psychology Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology is a great program for persons interested in helping others and who want to understand why people behave the way they do; provides specific career paths including clinical, counseling, school, or other related applied psychology areas (e.g., forensic or sport psychology); is focused on enriching student understanding of the social sciences areas as well as application and delivery of these areas of psychology; offers students flexibility in their programs of study allowing them to select courses specific to their future interests that will make them more attractive to employers and graduate programs; maintains a liberal arts focus by exposing students to coursework in related fields like Gerontology, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Philosophy; Careers in Psychology Psychology is a good liberal arts degree that prepares you for many careers. Only 25% of graduates stay in a field directly related to psychology. Forty percent work for business/other for-profit organizations; 20-30% work in education; and 30% in non-profits including government. According to the College Majors Handbook the top 10 occupations for Psychology majors are management, sales, social work, personnel, health care, marketing, and financial specialists. Forensic Psychology Concentration This concentration involves focusing your choices in the major on Forensic Psychology relevant courses and adding additional courses from other departments for a more comprehensive exposure to the field. An additional major or minor is required. It is of particular interest to those wanting to work in fields involving criminal investigation and the legal system, to pursue graduate study in Forensic Psychology, and/or to conduct research in areas pertaining to Forensic Psychology.

Applicants must have a cumulative 2.50 GPA. Other English Language Requirements: TOEFL score of 525 on Paper-based test. Students can also prove English proficiency by completing ESLI or ELS Level 109.
