The BSc Developmental Biology with Industrial/Professional Experience course will enable students to gain experience of the workplace on a year-long placement during their degree. On this course, students will learn how the single cell formed at fertilisation forms an embryo and then a fully formed adult organism, covering multiple disciplines such as genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, anatomy, physiology and computer modelling. Students will also learn how developmental biology is having a significant impact on our understanding of evolution and modern medicine, including the treatment of birth defects, infertility and cancer in humans, particularly through stem cells.
