This type of planning is particularly attractive to students interested in pursuing graduate study in economics, law, business, journalism, or the social sciences. In addition to coursework, internships and co-op work experiences are available for students interested in careers in business management, government administration, labor relations, economic analysis, banking, and urban planning. Students benefit from small classes taught by award-winning faculty who have a diversity of specialties. Most hold doctoral degrees—and all engage in research and scholarly publication. Coursework is further enriched with lectures and presentations by visiting scholars and economists from abroad. Other opportunities include the University's Honors Program and study abroad programs—which range from summer programs to a single semester or a full academic year in over 56 countries. Freshmen candidates applying directly from high school are expected to complete a rigorous college preparatory curriculum (Core 40 curriculum for Indiana residents) and maintain a competitive grade point of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the rigor of the high school curriculum, grades earned in academic subjects, and other evidence of academic potential or students completing GED diplomas are also given admission consideration based upon percentile rank, schooling completed, and additional standardized test scores. Other English Language Requirements: The required English language proficiency scores are TOEFL - 500, ELS - Level 112, IU - Level 6, Interlink - Level 5, MELAB - 69, The Language Company - Level 9, Spring International Language Center - Level 6, Purdue University Calumet - Level 4, Ball State University IEI - Level 6, and InterNexus - Advanced Level.
