Careers Students graduating from the B.S. in athletic training, applied medicine concentration have been successful in gaining admission to the following graduate programs: Athletic Training Exercise Science Health Promotion Physician Assistant Studies Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy Nutrition Other health and wellness professions Students have obtained employment as rehabilitation technicians, medical sales, medical office administrators, as well as a variety of other health and wellness positions. Applied Medicine Concentration The need for qualified health care professionals versed in interprofessional practice is growing with an increased need between 25-44% through 2020. The Applied Medicine Concentration is designed to ensure that students obtain the required pre-requisites for a professional program in Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Physical Therapy. In fact, students who complete the AMR Concentration in the top 10% of their class and meet program requirements can obtain direct entry into Indiana State University's professional programs (OT, PA and PT). Post-graduation, students may also obtain employment in medical sales as a physician extender or medical office administrator. The coursework in the department emphasizes strong theoretical foundations within each of the areas of applied medicine, as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
